KALEIDOSCOPE CHOIR CONSTITUTION

Object
To promote and foster a love of singing within the community and aid selected charities wherever possible. To this end no member shall receive payment for services rendered.

Membership
Membership shall be open to ladies aged 18 years and over.

Auditions
Auditions are not normally required, but this is at the discretion of the Musical Director. The ability to read music, whilst an advantage, is not a requirement of membership.

Subscriptions
The organisation’s year will begin on the last Wednesday in January each year. Subscriptions become due at the commencement of the year and may be paid either in full or in instalments throughout the year. New members joining after the start of the year will be asked to pay pro-rata for the remainder of their first year’s membership. The level of subscription will be reviewed annually by the Committee, any alterations deemed to be necessary will be presented to the members of the choir for vote at the AGM (Annual General Meeting).

Uniform
For concerts and competitions the choir will be dressed uniformly – mode to be agreed by the members. Members may be required to contribute towards the cost of such uniform.

Attendance
Members are required to inform the Membership Secretary if they are not able to attend rehearsals giving as much notice as is feasible. For continuity, it is essential that all members attend at least the three meetings prior to a performance.

Officers
The officers of Kaleidoscope shall be : Chairperson, Secretary, Treasurer, Librarian and Membership Secretary. The officers shall be elected at the AGM and take up office immediately after the meeting. Current officers must step down at the AGM and be re-elected to remain in office.

Committee
The Committee shall consist of the officers named above plus one member from each section of the choir. The Musical Director shall form part of the Committee but shall not take an office. The Committee can co-opt additional members throughout the year as may be necessary to fulfil certain tasks on either a temporary or permanent basis.

Five members of the committee shall form a quorum.  Meetings to held monthly or bi-monthly as necessary and minutes produced for circulation to all choir members.

AGM (Annual General Meeting)
The AGM will be held at the last rehearsal in January, or at the first available opportunity thereafter. Nominations for officers and other committee members (with the consent of the nominees) should be handed in writing to the Secretary at least 14 days prior to the AGM.

Amendments
Amendments to the Constitution shall be made only at AGM or EGM (Emergency General meeting).  Proposed amendments must be made in writing to the Secretary not less than 14 days prior to such meeting, together with names of proposer and seconder.

Musical Director
The Musical Director shall be appointed by the Committee.

Music and Programme Content
Final choice of music and content of all concert programmes will be the responsibility of the Musical Director in consultation with the committee. The ordering of new or replacement music shall be the responsibility of the Musical Director or her designate.

Auditor
An Auditor (not a member of Kaleidoscope) shall be appointed to audit the accounts prior to each AGM.

Dissolution
The choir may be dissolved at any time if agreed by two-thirds of those members present and voting at any General Meeting.  In the event of dissolution, any assets remaining after all debts have been paid shall be given to another group with similar aims.
