About

Kaleidoscope is a community, female voice choir based in Lichfield, Staffordshire.  The aims of the choir are to foster the love of singing, take singing into the community and raise money for charitable causes.

The name reflects the ethos of the choir as we include a wide variety of musical styles in our repertoire and encourage singers to join us from all backgrounds, of varying ages and with varied experience.

Sometimes we need more voices in one section than another and may ask you to try that section if your voice is suitable and you are happy with that. We are currently recruiting into our soprano and alto sections but have a waiting list for our second soprano section.

So please get in touch if you feel you would like to try singing with a choir, or wish to be added to the waiting list. You can do this by emailing info@kaleidoscopechoir.co.uk.

We ask you to come and join us for 2-3 weeks as a prospective member and sing with us. We can then review if your voice blends in with others in the section and maintains the tone and balance of the choir. And of course whether you wish to formally join the choir.

If you are interested in joining us, please read this page to find out more.

The choir is currently led by Rupert Feld and members sing in 2, 3 or 4 parts.

Music includes modern arrangements of choral standards, music from shows, classics and popular music arranged for female voices. The choir is always interested to hear from anyone who would like to join us, even if they haven’t sung for a number of years.  We have members of all ages and some had not sung since school when they joined us.

The choir rehearses weekly in Lichfield and performs a number of concerts throughout the year.  Our concerts give us the opportunity to express our love of singing and entertain our audiences, at the same time often enabling us to raise funds for local organisations or charities and cover the choir’s running costs, although most of our expenses are covered by member subscriptions.

Fund-Raising

The choir has adopted both Burton & District MIND and St George’s Hospital Stafford to support during 2024

This is being done in memory of our late Chair, Helen Klich. She had a particular interest in supporting mental health services. She worked at St George’s Hospital and in the course of her work with Burton & District Mind MIND on local projects. Burton & District MIND are establishing a new fund in her memory – ‘Helen’s Bursary’.

The choir adopted ‘Kids Like Us’ as it’s charity for 2023 and has raised £1268 for the charity over the year, including a fund-raising concert in the summer.

Please look at the ‘Concert Schedule’ page to find out about future performances.

The choir is always interested in hearing from organisations who are interested in a performance, either for fund-raising or entertainment. You can contact us by emailing info@kaleidoscopechoir.co.uk.

We enjoyed singing at the Memory Cafe in December 2023. It was well received by all and Cafe members were happy to sing along with us. We felt we bought so much joy in to their world.

Singers from Kaleidoscope Choir, led by Rupert Feld (above, far left) visited Lichfield Memory Café recently to sing for members and celebrate the choir raising over £1000 for the Memory Café during 2022.

The choir had adopted the Memory Café as its 2022 charity and funds were raised both at concerts and during rehearsals. These funds have enabled Memory Café members to enjoy extra activities such as a visit to the panto, dancing etc. , including a coronation party.

The choir raised a fantastic £607 for JDRF (Juvenile Diabetic Research Fund) at a concert in September 2022. Above, representatives of the charity are seen accepting a cheque from the choir’s M.D. Rupert Feld.

The choir adopted Myeloma UK as their charity for support during 2019.

During the year the choir raised a fantastic £1567 for the charity. This was raised at three concerts the choir organised throughout the year.

A cheque for this amount was presented to John Dixon at their ‘Friends and Family’ evening, who accepted it on behalf of the charity.

Sadly, Chris who is presenting the cheque in this picture, has since passed away. We have decided to keep this picture on the website in her memory.

Myeloma is a cancer of the bone marrow and unfortunately, is incurable (terminal).

‘Myeloma UK’ is a charity which supports myeloma patients and their carers by promoting research, raising awareness and maintaining a network of support groups. John and his wife, Chris are members of the local support group which is based in Burton.
